Privacy notice

Last updated September 9, 2026

This notice describes the current website behavior. Stackwise is operated by Stefan Cutler, an individual in New York, and is intended for United States users.

What stays in your browser

Calculator inputs, pasted measurements, imported CSV/JSON project files, and analysis results are processed in your browser. Guided projects are stored in browser local storage only when you choose “Save on this device”; they remain until you delete them or clear site data. Theme preference is also stored locally. The current application code does not intentionally send those engineering inputs to an Operator database.

Hosting and request information

OpenAI hosts Stackwise through ChatGPT Sites on the Operator’s behalf and may use infrastructure providers such as Cloudflare. When you request a page, hosting and security systems may process technical information such as IP address, browser and device information, requested URL, date and time, security signals, and diagnostic or error logs to deliver, protect, maintain, debug, and enforce policies for the site.

ChatGPT Sites does not currently provide data-residency controls for deployed sites and related logs. The ChatGPT Sites Data Processing Addendum for individual-plan publishers governs OpenAI’s processing of personal data collected by a published Site on the Operator’s behalf. It describes processing during the agreement and deletion or return after it ends, subject to legal and operational exceptions, but does not publish one fixed number of days for every request, security, moderation, or error log. We therefore do not claim a more precise retention period.

Cookies and similar storage

Stackwise uses browser local storage for saved guided projects and theme preference. It does not use an application account, advertising, analytics, access, or subscription cookie. The hosting security layer currently sets Cloudflare’s __cf_bm cookie for bot detection and site protection. Cloudflare states that this cookie does not identify users in the application, is not used to track users across sites, and expires after approximately 30 minutes of continuous inactivity.

No advertising trackers are intentionally configured. Whether a consent banner or additional regional cookie disclosure is required depends on the user’s and Operator’s jurisdictions and the classification of technologies actually deployed.

Purposes and sharing

Technical request information is processed to provide pages, maintain availability, prevent abuse, investigate errors, and comply with applicable requirements. It may be processed by OpenAI and its hosting, infrastructure, security, moderation, and support providers as needed to operate ChatGPT Sites. Stackwise does not currently sell personal information, use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or intentionally use calculator inputs to train a model.

Optional support and external services

If you follow the Buy Me a Coffee link, you leave Stackwise and interact directly with that provider. Its collection of account, transaction, contact, device, and payment information is governed by its own notices. Do not send payment-card information directly to Stackwise.

If you email the Operator, the email provider and Operator will process the contact details, message, and attachments you choose to send. Non-confidential feedback may be used to improve Stackwise under the Terms. We will not publish a sender’s name, message, support amount, testimonial, or case study without separate permission. Do not send confidential, export-controlled, proprietary, personal, health, payment-card, or safety-critical information.

Retention and deletion

You can delete individual saved projects or all saved projects in the guided workflow. Browser controls can clear local project data, security cookies, and preferences. Clearing local data does not necessarily delete logs held by hosting providers. Email and legal records are kept only as long as reasonably needed for support, security, legal compliance, dispute handling, or the purpose for which they were provided. No fixed schedule has yet been adopted; one must be adopted before adding accounts, newsletters, analytics, or server-side collection.

Children

Stackwise is not directed to children under 13 and does not intentionally collect their personal information through an account or submission form. A child under 13 must not send personal information to the Operator. If you believe a child has done so, contact us so it can be evaluated and deleted where required.

Security and limitations

Stackwise uses measures including HTTPS and browser security headers, but no website or device is completely secure. Local processing does not protect data from malware, unsafe browser extensions, shared-device access, downloaded-file handling, or loss of the device.

Your choices and contact

You can use the calculator without an account, decline optional support, avoid saving projects, delete local projects, and clear browser storage. To request access, correction, or deletion of information the Operator actually controls, or to ask a privacy question, email stefan.cutler@gmail.com or use the support page. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify that the request concerns you. We will not request sensitive identification unless reasonably necessary.

Changes

This notice will be reviewed before Stackwise adds accounts, server storage, analytics, advertising, newsletters, uploads, an API, or another provider. Those planned features are not active merely because they are contemplated. Material changes will be communicated in a reasonably prominent way and consent obtained where required.
